Frequently Asked Questions
Is this soup safe and appropriate for kids to eat?
Yes. The Broccoli Cheese variety is a vegetarian recipe made with broccoli, cheddar cheese, and farm-fresh cream, and it has been a family favorite for generations.
Do the alphabet pasta noodles make it more fun for kids?
Yes. The alphabet-shaped pasta is a nostalgic detail that many parents find makes the bowl more engaging and fun for young eaters, and it is a fun conversation starter at the table.
Can I serve this as a quick lunch when my child comes home from school?
Absolutely. With just a microwave, you can have a hot, filling bowl ready in minutes, which makes it ideal for hungry kids walking in the door after school.
Is this a good option for picky eaters who refuse most vegetables?
Yes. The creamy cheddar-cheese flavor tends to win over picky eaters, and the alphabet pasta adds a playful element that encourages them to finish the bowl.
Can I use this as a shortcut in family-friendly casseroles?
Yes. Many home cooks use it as a base for family-style casseroles, baked pasta, and even homemade sloppy Joes, which makes weeknight family dinners much easier.
Is this a good pantry staple to keep on hand for busy parenting weeks?
Yes. With its long shelf life and pantry-stable format, it is a reliable go-to when you have not had time to go to the grocery store but still need to feed the family.
How many servings does one can provide for my family?
Each can yields about 2.5 servings, which works well for one child's lunch, a parent-and-child dinner, or a small family side dish.
Is the can easy to store safely away from children?
The 10.5 oz steel can is compact and easy to store in any standard pantry, and once opened, leftovers should be transferred to the refrigerator.
Can I pack this in a thermos for a school lunch?
Yes. Many parents heat the soup at home and pour it into a pre-warmed thermos for a hot, comforting lunch at school.
How does this compare to a homemade broccoli cheese soup for a family dinner?
A homemade version can take 30 minutes or more, while this canned option delivers the same family-friendly flavor profile in a fraction of the time, which is helpful on busy weeknights.
Is this healthier than most kids' canned soup options?
The Broccoli Cheese variety features a meaningful amount of vegetables and a vegetarian recipe, which many parents consider a more wholesome choice among canned options.
My child does not like chunky soup. Will they eat this?
The creamy, blended base with alphabet pasta and small broccoli pieces is generally well-accepted by children who prefer smoother textures over chunky soups.
Can I dress it up to make a more filling meal for a hungry teenager?
Yes. You can stretch it with extra water, add cooked pasta, top it with shredded cheese, or serve it with a grilled cheese sandwich to make a more substantial meal.
Is this a good recipe base for sloppy Joes the whole family will eat?
Yes. The condensed soup is commonly used in homemade sloppy Joe recipes, and it is a great way to add creaminess and flavor to a family-favorite sandwich.
Will my child actually finish a bowl of this soup?
Reviewers consistently describe it as filling and tasty with a flavor kids enjoy, and the alphabet pasta is a fun touch that typically helps kids clean their bowls.
How do I prepare Campbell's Condensed Broccoli Cheese Soup from the can?
Open the can, transfer the soup to a microwave-safe bowl or saucepan, add a quarter can of water (or more for a thinner consistency), and heat thoroughly. On the stovetop, stir frequently over medium heat; in the microwave, heat in 1- to 2-minute intervals, stirring in between.
How much water do I add to get the thickness I want?
For the classic creamy consistency, add about a quarter can of water. Add less for a thicker, stew-like bowl or more for a lighter, broth-style soup. You are in full control of the final texture.
Can I use this soup as a recipe ingredient instead of eating it as soup?
Yes. It is commonly used as a shortcut for homemade roux or bechamel sauce in casseroles, frittatas, baked pasta dishes, and even homemade sloppy Joes. Many home cooks keep a few cans on hand specifically for recipe use.
Does this product work as a substitute for cream of broccoli soup in recipes?
Yes. It can be used as a direct substitute in most recipes that call for a condensed cream-style broccoli or cheese soup, which makes it a versatile shortcut ingredient in your pantry.
Can I freeze leftover soup for later?
Yes. Once prepared, you can freeze leftover soup in an airtight container for future use, though the texture of the pasta and cheese may change slightly after thawing.
What is in the box when I order this product?
Each order includes a single 10.5 oz recyclable steel can of Campbell's Condensed Broccoli Cheese Soup. No additional accessories or items are required to prepare it, just a microwave or stovetop and a bowl.
Is it safe to eat if the can is dented?
As with any canned good, you should not consume soup from cans that are severely dented, leaking, bulging, or otherwise compromised. A small, cosmetic dent is generally fine, but a damaged can can compromise the seal and the safety of the food inside.
How long does an unopened can stay fresh?
The condensed format is designed for long shelf life, so an unopened can stays fresh in your pantry for an extended period. Always check the best-by date printed on the can for the most accurate guidance.
What is the difference between Campbell's Broccoli Cheese Soup and Campbell's Vegetable with Beef Stock Soup?
Broccoli Cheese is a vegetarian recipe made with broccoli, cheddar cheese, and farm-fresh cream for a creamy, cheesy bowl. Vegetable with Beef Stock is a tomato-based broth made with beef stock and a mix of vegetables, including alphabet pasta, for a more traditional vegetable-beef style soup. Both are condensed 10.5 oz cans from the same trusted Campbell's family.
